Tom Kirkpatrick, nato in Ohio nel 1954, ha frequentato la Julliard School of Music. Grazie all’incoraggiamento di Chet Baker, Tom nel 1977 si trasferì nella capitale del jazz, New York, guadagnandosi in poco tempo un’ottima reputazione. Dopo molti anni trascorsi a New York, lasciò gli Stati Uniti per la Danimarca e poi per l’Olanda per insegnare in alcuni seminari. Mentre si trovava in Olanda, gli fu chiesto di realizzare un tour in Italia, paese di cui si innamorò perdutamente. Tramite Billy Higgins, Tom conobbe Alberto Alberti, al quale fu legato da profondo affetto per anni. Trombettista versatile, efficace sia nel be-bop che nelle ballad, Kirkpatrick tornerà stasera a New Orleans con la Storyville Jazz Band.
